Mirna Valerio is a native of Brooklyn, NY, a former educator, cross-country coach, ultrarunner, speaker, and author of the recently published memoir, A Beautiful Work in Progress. Although she began running in high school, she recommitted to the sport after a health scare in 2008. It was then that her love for running and all its attendant benefits were reignited. She soon started her blog Fatgirlrunning, about her experiences as a larger woman

in a world of thinner athletes.


Mirna's athletic story was featured in the WSJ, Runner’s World, on the NBC Nightly News, CNN, on the CW Network, and in the viral REI-produced documentary short, The Mirnavator. Her writing has been featured in Women’s Running Magazine, Self Magazine Online, Outside Online, and Runner's World Magazine. Mirna was also chosen as a 2018 National Geographic Adventurer of the Year and was featured in a NYTimes article on Body Positivity entitled, Five People Who Can Help You Love Your Body. She has also been a guest on several major podcasts, including the Rich Roll Podcast and most recently, the Strava Athletes Unfiltered Podcast.

Katie Arnold is a contributing editor and the former managing editor at Outside Magazine, where she has worked for the past 23 years. She created and wrote the“Raising Rippers” column about bringing up adventurous, outdoor children, appearing on Outside Online since 2011. She has written for The New York Times, Travel + Leisure, Sunset, Runner’s World, ESPN: The Magazine, Elle, and many others, and her narrative nonfiction has been featured in Best American Sports Writing. An elite ultra runner, she has raced and won ultra marathons of every distance and is the 2018 Leadville Trail 100 champion. Her critically-acclaimed memoir, Running Home, about becoming an ultra runner after the death of her father, was published by Random House in March 2019.

Focus: Hiking and Hanging. Mom focused for those with special needs kids or new babies


Melody Forsyth is a mother of 4, a labor and delivery nurse and a Down syndrome advocate. She founded her Instagram account Down with Adventure to help families who had children with disabilities see that you can continue to live a full outdoors life when your child has Down syndrome or other disabilities. 

Her family and their story has been featured on the REI blog, they were in a Maverick's ad campaign and they are currently sponsored by L.L. Bean. Melody works with numerous brands on creating more positive messaging around families with special needs.
