About The Retreats
Hiking My Way retreats are adventure + wellness retreats led by inspiring women influencers in beautiful locations.
Most of our retreats are based in Southern Utah and are 3 or 4 night all-inclusive events and aimed at allowing participants maximum relaxation and opportunity to connect with themselves and others with a scenic backdrop.
We explore the vast desert around Zion National Park & Dixie National Forest.
Who are these good for?
Everyone! It depends which retreat you sign up for. We provide access and support for hiking, running, yoga, stretching, journaling, meditating, connecting, healing, building, growing and exploring.
We recognize that we are all in this together and each of us can be catalysts for inspiration in the right environment.

What is a "collaborative retreat"?
Hiking my Way Retreats are collaborative retreats organized by Shanti Hodges and based in Southern Utah. Shanti came up with the idea after moving the area in 2017 and quickly realizing how healing the open space and beautiful landscape was for her. She wanted to introduce more women to the area and felt that partnering with incredible powerhouse influencers, would help encourage more people to visit the region beyond Zion National Park. Thus the idea was born!
In 2020 Hiking my Way retreats has three retreats in partnership with runner and body positive icon Mirna Valerio, award winning author and Leadville 100 winner Katie Arnold and Down syndrome advocate Melody Forsyth.
Who is Shanti?
Shanti Hodges is an adventure journalist and author, producer, event organizer and community builder. She recently moved from Portland, OR to La Verkin, UT on the edge of Zion National Park with her husband and son. Prior to her son's birth, Shanti was a well known journalist writing for magazines like Outside,
Men's Journal, National Geographic Adventure,
Marie Claire, Self, Shape, REI blog and many other online and print publications.
In 2013 she founded Hike it Baby, the largest family hike group in North America with over 1,600 hikes a month. Although she has always been an adventurous soul, when her son was born she started hiking more than she ever had, clocking hundreds of miles with her hike community. Through Hike it Baby, Shanti wrote a book, Hike it Baby: 100 Awesome Adventures with Babies and Toddlers in 2018 about trails across America. She and her organization has been written about in the Washington Post, Self magazine, Outside magazine, featured on CNN and numerous other local and national magazines and blogs.
Since moving to Utah, Shanti has been focusing on bringing families to Utah through guiding them and producing custom travel itineraries to help people make the most of their Utah visit.
Fabulous time of physical challenges and a nurturing community, in a frankly amazing natural setting. Looking back from the perspective of a year, I truly feel this was a life-changing experience. And I'm coming back for more!
-- Nan Shellabarger, Silver Springs, MD
Shanti and Mirna's retreat was such a wonderful experience in a gorgeous outdoor setting and with some really amazing women. It allowed me to reflect, recenter and truly have a vacation from the mental load of every day. Even in a house of strangers, I felt welcome and an almost immediate friendship with these women. And the landscape, wow! Talk about an amazing place to hike and explore. -- Alex Wong
